The other employee here at Romine Tutoring also has his own Tutors profile, my husband Devon Romine. He is currently a Graduate Teaching Assistant at Missouri State University in the Physics and Material Science Department. Any advanced mathematics and sciences like physics, chemistry, calculus, integration, and differential equations, etc. Any college level Math or Science (except biology and geology) would automatically go to him.
We started "Romine Tutoring" because we both have a passion for education, teaching, and our respective fields. We both grew up in a small town with an even smaller school that was simply incapable of providing individual learning or tutoring of any kind. The school's SPED department had 4 teachers for the entire K-12 school and students who were not severely impacted by disability or their IQ was "too high" were sent back to regular classroom settings with 30+ students to a teacher. No matter how great a teacher is they are but one person. This meant that so many children fell through the cracks and without private tutors available in our area we were stuck. We understand the impact of poverty, location, work schedules for parent and student, lack of technology, and other barriers to education because we lived through them ourselves.
After years of hard work, college tutors, and amazing college professors, we have come to this point where we have the knowledge and skill to offer adjustable, affordable, and accessible tutoring for all students regardless of age or background. My husband was a gifted child with undiagnosed PTSD that a small school could not accommodate, I was the child with ADHD whose IQ "tested too high" to need accommodation. We do not put much stock into IQ tests. We put stock into the individual student. Each student will learn differently. We want to provide as many students, young and old, as we can with the tools and education that work for them. We firmly believe in the quote frequently (but baselessly) credited to Albert Einstein, "Everyone is a genius, but if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree it will spend its life believing it is stupid." Science and experience shows us that everyone learns differently. We aim to provide for those needs.
