K-12 Math Tutoring

My service stands out because I can typically teach concepts in more than one way. I have tutored quite a few people and in the process I have learned to adapt to another person's way of thinking so we can find a way for them to understand. I know that tutoring is a process of not only getting to know the material, but also getting to know the student. Ultimately you have to understand the student to teach them effectively because everyone is different.

I absolutely love math, but I know that not everyone's brains see numbers the same way. I enjoy tutoring because I love to see the switch go off in someone's brain when I explain a concept in a way they've never heard before and it finally clicks. For example, I love numbers and I always have. Both of my younger and older sisters hate math and they learn different from me and from each other. Helping them with math used to break my heart because I could see the frustration and the sadness because they weren't understanding. But when I got them to calm down and explained it in a different way there was a complete shift. They were excited because they were getting it and that excitement and elation that comes from finally understanding is why I love tutoring.
