Hamlett English Tutoring
About
I have a Bachelor's Degree in English Literature. Accompanying that BS are minors in Writing, TESOL, and Japanese. My Master's Degree is in Writing/Creative Writing.
I also have experience working with non-native English speakers and have lived in Japan for an extended time.
My main focus in tutoring is with writing, grammar, syntax, and content, but I'm also willing to tutor in literature and reading.
I enjoy every aspect of English. English, and language in general, offers students and learners a chance to tell a story in vibrant expressive ways, that they may be unable to tell verbally. Improving English skills also helps students improve their communication skills to better succeed in the world.
I enjoy seeing students learn to communicate in new ways and seeing new things about the world through expression.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I'll spend the first session asking them to write about themselves. It's a more informal session to guage where they are at with grammar, as well as how they view their own writing skills. It helps me find out some of the things they enjoy to incorporate into the lessons if I can.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
BSed: English Education- Missouri State University, 2017
MFA: Writing- Lindenwood University, 2019
Honorary Degree: Japanese Culture- Meiji University 2013
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I'm willing to work with my clients, but standard range is $35.00 an hour.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students non-native to speaking English as well as honors students.
Most of my experience is working with children in special needs and IEP settings.
