English And Writing Tutoring
About
I am level one certified by the College Reading and Learning Association to tutor students in higher education in English and writing.
I love helping students learn how to better their writing skills and become more effective communicators. It's extremely rewarding to have students leave a session having improved their writing and found a new appreciation for English.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First, I'll ask opening questions about his or her work assignments and areas in which he or she needs specific assistance. Then, we start with finding solutions for those problems, whether it be discussing transitions in an essay and making them stronger or determining an effective thesis statement. Before I close the session, I'll go over the work we've done together and establish the student's next steps and the areas on which the student would like to work in the future.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English/Creative Writing. I tutored English and writing during the spring 2016 semester at the Carol Jones Writing Center where I received certification to tutor English and writing from the College Reading and Learning Association. I have also taken six college-level workshop classes in both fiction and nonfiction and assisted classmates in strengthening their essays and stories for revision.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
$18-$20 per hour
How did you get started teaching?
I have a passion for teaching but am a creative writer first and foremost. I desire to work one-on-one with students rather than in a classroom setting to help students individually hone their English and writing skills.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students getting associate's, bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees on strengthening their essays, stories, theses, and dissertations.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What is their number one issue when it comes to writing or starting and completing a project? Do they simply want someone to help them proofread their work, or do they want help understanding how to become a better writer and communicator?
