About

I am a graduating Chemical Engineering Student from University of Missouri Columbia Class of 2020. For one year I was a community college campus tutor. I was also a teaching assistant for a Mass and Energy Balance course.

These are some of the more physical things that show I am capable of teaching. Additionally, I truly enjoy helping people understand the material! I recently recieved a National Science Foundation Graduate Fellowship to pursue graduate school to get my PhD and hopefully teach someday. I also love research and applications of science and math. Being a chemical engineering student has a lot of these examples so don't be afraid to ask me about one!

My favorite thing is to see when the material finally clicks with the student. I have a strong focus on understanding the material and concepts. It sometimes takes a little longer, but is essential to building on the knowledge. Specific to science, I love to use concepts to explain our world. The material I have learned help me understand many natural things. Now I use these examples to explain the science!

Frequently asked questions

It really depends on what their needs and goals are. I want to help guide the student to wherever they want to go. I like to start the process by making sure we are on the same page and that I can provide what the students want. From there we can make a plan for our sessions.

As a community college tutor, I worked with many different students. From returning learners to freshman college students. I have also worked with highschool students but to a lesser degree. At that level I am able to help with college and career questions as much as coursework. At each age level there are people of varying degrees on knowledge and I can help identify where you are at and what we need to do to improve.

The biggest thing students can do to improve their learning is identify where they are struggling. It is significantly easier to answer a question when we know what is missing! I have found many students struggle with this so it is one of the first things I try to teach.
