About this tutor

I am currently a high school student and I am very good at working with kids my age or younger to help them with their math. I am willing to work as slow or as fast as they need me to and I am willing to work with students learning basic addition to students in Calculus BC (as I just completed the course this year as a junior). I have always been in an advanced math program at school and I have helped many of my friends with their math through the years. Additionally, I have helped teach younger kids in other disciplines such as sports, and even learning how to solve Rubix cubes! I speak Spanish and am fluent in the language as I went to an immersion school growing up. I am also willing to give Spanish lessons or teach the math lessons in Spanish as that is how I was taught my elementary math!

I love teaching students and helping them learn new skills. It gives me joy to see someone finally understand a concept that they have been struggling to understand. I love learning as well and want to share that passion with other kids my age and younger to help set them up for life. I love math and I love solving problems and processes. Overall, I am very excited to help you or your student improve their math skills!

FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

I will first contact them or their parent to get information on what subject I will be tutoring them in. I will proceed to refresh my brain on what material I will be helping them with so that I can answer all of their questions. Then I will get in contact with them again to begin the tutoring!

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have participated in the gifted and talented program throughout elementary and middle school. I have taken 6 AP classes so far (2 freshman year and 2 sophomore year). I self-studied pre-calculus this past summer (summer of 2019) so that I could advance to AP Calculus in the fall of 2019!

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

I will work at a starting price of $20/hour and price will vary depending on the student.

How did you get started teaching?

I have been teaching students and my friends throughout the course of high school and I have taught both sunday school and VBS for multiple years so I have experience working with kids and elementary schoolers. I am also the captain of the nordic team and I am able to help teach middle and high school students new skills!

What types of students have you worked with?

I have worked with students as young as 5 and as old as 16.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.

I am fond of my trip to Junior Nationals in Truckee, CA for nordic skiing! I worked very hard to qualify for this event and I was very happy when I qualified.
