After several years working in business and tutoring for other companies, I have come to realize that working individually and in small groups with students on my own is the best of all options. There is great satisfaction in relationships and growth that result from these settings. What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I tutor students in mathematics, and ACT prep (English, math, reading, and science). Students meet at my home office for one hour (math tutoring) and two hours (ACT prep).
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been tutoring students in math and ACT prep since 2000. I was a math major in college and worked as an actuary out of college. After I had my children I decided to stay home with them and tutor in the evenings. I tutored math at Sylvan Learning Center and headed up their ACT program while I was there in 1999/2000.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My one on one math tutoring is $65/one hour.
My one on one ACT prep is $85/two hour session. The first hour of the session is instruction and the second hour is independent practice testing on the concepts we covered the first hour.
