The Basics Tutoring

My name is Ann Shelander, or Mrs. Shelander/Mrs. S. to my students. I taught second grade and Title 1 reading and math for almost 30 years in the Orono and Monticello school districts. I tell my students that making mistakes is part of learning, and I like to encourage them to be secure in their learning attempts. I will always recognize and support the growth my students make because we all need positive reinforcement to move forward. Because of my experience teaching early elementary and Title 1, I am confident in my ability to teach reading and math basic skills. I have quite a lot of experience teaching students who required additional support to meet grade level goals. At the end of the day, I can promise this: I will always be an encourager for your child, and treat them with respect and kindness. Finally, I have a pretty healthy sense of humor, and I know that laughter should be part of our learning every day!
