Lara's Tutoring
About
Hi! My name is Lara. I just graduated high school with an Associated of Arts degree from Normandale Community College. I've been tutoring at Mathnasium for 2 years, and hope to continue tutoring on my own. I've taught kids of all ages, and know how to introduce new ideas in creative ways so kids can understand and remember the concepts. I love working with kids and helping them learn more about math and piano which are some of my passions.

Frequently asked questions
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
It's pretty simple. For 45 minutes I charge 22$ for the first 2 sessions a week. If it's 1 hour 30 minutes, I'll charge 39$.
If I'm doing 3 or more sessions a week with the student, the price is lowered to 17$ per 45 minutes and 32$ per 1 hour 30 minutes.
Tutoring sessions on weekends cost 2$ extra per 45 minutes.
What types of students have you worked with?
I've taught all ages from Pre-K to senior level math
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look for quality over quantity. The quality of the tutoring session is way more important than the amount of sessions. Plus if the quality is good, it will probably cost less than 5 sessions a week would for a low quality instructor. Also be looking for tutors that would do one-on-one sessions with your child if possible. That will maximize the time.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What are they having difficulty with. Do they not know how to do some basic math to be able to do the problems that they need to do? Are they excited about learning math and do they think they'll get better by being tutored?
