I have a vast and diverse experience of 5+ years in school and college teaching. I have a degree in education and a double masters (in Math and CS). Teaching is my passion and my approach to teaching is centred around understanding student needs and finding the most suitable ways to optimize their learning. Accordingly, I customize the lesson plans, employ varied teaching techniques and make extensive use of real-world examples to make it tangible for them. As a Maths tutor, I will try to expose them to the ways mathematical problem-solving benefits the world around us. The applications of this subject are far-reaching and constantly expanding.
My pedagogy focuses on presenting mathematics as a tool which students may carry with them to tackle problems that they come across in their day to day lives. While teaching courses like Calculus I, Basic Math and Algebra; I have tried to illustrate the core concepts by tying them with the fields such as finance, architecture, engineering, mechanics and biology. This makes it more relatable and stays with them for a longer period of time.
Education is an ongoing process of continuous learning, both for the students as well as the teachers. The feedback I have received from my students has helped me evolve professionally, and refine my teaching skills. However, at the same time I have been careful not to fall into the trap of student appeasement and have always made sure to do what’s right for them.
During my academic career, I have been fortunate to find mentors among instructors, professors and research advisors who have helped me realize the importance and the profundity of this subject. I have found the ability to impact others immensely rewarding, and will continue to give back to the community by finding innovative ways to spread the gift of mathematics wherever I can.
