Trained as an Math Intervention Specialist
Master's - St. Mary's University 2016
Licensed K-6
Teaching for 15 years
I enjoy building relationships with students and striving to find successes at every level and ability. There are fundamental concepts of math learning that are crucial to continued growth as a math learner. My goal in instruction is to identify any of these gaps that may be present and build on any previous holes that may be a missing piece of a students overall math learning.
My Master's work through St. Mary's was a focus on interventions for struggling math learners, with an additional focus on students in the intermediate grades. I am trained as a Math Recovery Intervention Specialist and I have received training in Advantage Math in the district that I work for.
I have been a teacher for 15 years and I love what I do!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
On our first meeting, we will take some time to get to know one another and the students' overall feelings as a math learner. Our initial session also includes a series of assessments designed to pinpoint the strengths and weaknesses in the students' ability to identify numbers, structuring numbers, and mathmatical strategies. This initial assessment is used to identify the starting points of the instruction.
