About

I love teaching because it is lifegiving to see a student go from confused and frustrated to confident and knowledgeable. One thing I stress with my students when they say "I don't get/understand it!" is to make sure they add "yet". There is always a possibility to learn more even when the concept seems too complicated in the moment. I also understand when students have a hard time understanding concepts. Learning is a growth process and I promise to be patient and dedicated to the student until they understand it fully.

I enjoy meeting new people and learning about them. I believe each student is unique and a blessing to know so I enjoy that part of my work the most. It is rewarding to build relationships and help grow their knowledge together.

    Frequently asked questions

My typical process for working with students is to first understand what their needs are and what level they are at. After I can accurately assess what they are looking for, I can begin to make a game plan of tutoring. I also will ask what teaching styles they understand best to further the learning process.

I have a degree in Integrated Ministry Studies and a minor in Biblical studies. I am trained in exegesis and hermeneutics to help students understand the meaning of biblical passages. For history, I have taken AP US History and excelled in the class and took the AP exam. I also have psychology training as my previous major was Human Services and Pre-Counseling so I am educated in human development, counseling history, types of psychological approaches, and coping mechanisms.

My standard of pricing is normally $18 an hour but that price may slightly fluctuate to be more or less depending on the situation.

I have been tutoring in after-school programs for four years. I have also taught Bible Studies and spoken at youth events and youth groups.

I have worked with a wide range of students from elementary to middle school and even high school. I am most experienced with elementary students but enjoy teaching all age groups for various reasons.

I recent event I am fond of is the elephants in Thailand getting to rest from tourism and giving rides. I recently found out elephants are not supposed to carry all that weight on their backs for rides so I am happy they are given a break.

I would advise a student to look for a teacher that is positive, patient, and willing to teach them in whatever style makes the most sense to them. I would also suggest a teacher that they feel comfortable around and can have fun while learning.

Students should identify what specifically they need help with before talking with teachers. They should also make sure they are ready to put in the extra work to excel in the subject because a teacher can only motivate students to a certain extent. Lastly, they should make sure their schedules are lined up for tutoring and there are no distractions in the location they are studying in.
