I have a deep understanding of elementary math, as I have been teaching for 29 years. Not only do I know my math, I also have a "tool kit" of resources and ideas that will inspire my students. I can also help students with other subjests, as I have taught all subjects in elementary.
I was the elementary teacher of the year for my district, and I am always tweeking my teaching style.My teaching style is to utilize games and online resources to help reach my students.
I love when I see the students finally "get it." I also love coming out up with different strategies to tackle a problem. I want my students to be confident and love learning.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
My typical process for meeting a new studetn is getting to know the whole child. We do a get to know you activity, where thye find out some fun things about me too. I also do a quick pre-test that lets me know where the student is and I buld my tutoring sessions based on that informaiton.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have an under graduate degree in elementary educaiton and a Masters Degree in Reading. I have been fortunate enough to participate in countless hours of professionl development provided by my district. I also have taken many online classes on topics ranging from math number talkis to motivatin students
How did you get started teaching?
I came from a family of teachers. Three generations of teachers passed on the love of teaching, and dedication to a very tough but fulfilling profession.
What types of students have you worked with?
My school district is in an urban setting. I have taught beginner readers to students that are 3-4 grade levels above.
