About
Andrew Tutors! stands out because it is a very friendly, calm-paced, happy way of learning new material. I, Andrew, make sure to explain information speicifically to the students needs. I can come up with new problems and work on them step-by-step with the student until they're ready to work on them on their own!
I've been tutoring at Oakland University as a college tutor for two semesters now and I aboslutely love it. Tutoring puts me in a place of fulfillment when I see a student grasp new information that we went through, no matter how long it takes. I want a student to be able to leave a tutoring session and think, "Wow! This isn't as bad as I thought it would be!"

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
My process for working with a new student is to see first and foremost get to know what topics of a certain subjects a student excels in and what topics they need extra help in. Following this information, I am able to approach the tutor method by determining how much time is spent on each topic.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Education: I am currently enrolled at Oakland University in Rochester, MI as an undergraduate student recieveing my Bachelor's Degree in Health Sciences in April 2018. I am beginning dental school in August 2018 at Creighton University in August 2018.
Work (Tutor): I currently am employed as a college tutor at Oakland University. I have been working as a college tutor since August 2017. I am very comfortable tutoring algebra, geometry, chemistry, organic chemistry, nutirion, anatomy, and physiology.
Work (Teaching Assistant): I also assisted in teaching a college organic chemsitry course. I helped students grasp ideas and information they learned from lecture to make sure they fully undertstood the information being taught. I did this by having a one-hour lecture/Q&A session twice a week with about 25 students at a time, this gives students a more comfortable enviornment to ask questions, rather than in a lecture hall with 200 students.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I am always willing to negotiate prices for tutoring sessions. My standard is $15 for half an hour or $25 for an hour. If students would like more than one hour of tutoring, prices would be $10 for every extra half hour and $20 for every extra hour. Please remember, I am always willing to negotaite.
How did you get started teaching?
I started formally tutoring and teaching assisting in August 2016. I noticed myself helping friends and classmates in my current classes and past classes I've taken and people began to tell me that they felt much better on information after I tutored them than before.
What types of students have you worked with?
Currently, I tutor college students, but I have tutored high school and middle school students. For every age group, I believe there is a different style of learning. Each person learns differently at different ages. I will put my utmost effort into making learning a fun and enjoyable experience for students!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
The advice I would give a student looking to hire a teacher of my area of expertise is simple. I would make sure that the teacher has a thourough profile and they have listed the subjects that they are comfortable teaching. I would also make sure that the teacher has listed their experience in the field of study and that they understand the direction to head in with each subject they tutor. Lastly, the teacher must be able to effectively communicate with students to truly understand and grasp what the student needs in a teaching lesson. This advice comes from years of experience of being tought, followed by experience of myself as a teacher.
