About
Does every student learn the same way? Of course not. There are multiple ways to learn just as there are multiple methods of teaching. I have a bachelors in Sociology and a masters in Counseling. What stands out about Massey Tutoring is that when teaching, analyzing the way the student learns is imperative. This dictates the way I teach & it is why my students improve dramatically in short periods of time.

Joyce has helped my grandson improve his grades in just a few short weeks. He started with a C in Math and finished the last card marking with a B. She has loads of patience, and never rushes through the lesson. I would highly recommend her.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
The first session is designed for the student to get comfortable with me and the basic concepts of what we’re covering. From this session, the student will have shown me: 1.) their level of understanding & 2.) the best way for me to teach them.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a bachelors degree in sociology and a masters in counseling. Both are psychology based. The most important thing I’ve learned from these degrees that I use as a tutor is: we each learn differently. This is why I adapt my teaching style to fit with the learning style of the student.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Each session will be a minimum of 1 hour. The pricing is based on the subject matter, student needs, length of session, if I give “homework” to do in between sessions, etc.
Discounts are given for referrals and also if client books multiple session per week.
How did you get started teaching?
Honestly, it started when I was in school. I used to help teammates & classmates with homework or lead study sessions for upcoming tests. Later, I tutored my younger siblings. Eventually, my brother earned a scholarship to Michigan State University & my sister earned a scholarship to Purdue University.
What types of students have you worked with?
All kinds of students. Children, teens, and adults. People preparing for the GED, ACT/SAT, teacher’s certification exam, nursing exams,
