About

I am certified in Dyscalculia Tutoring. I have been tutoring Math for three years and have tutored students with Dyscalculia for one year.

Dyscalculia is a math learning disability. Remediation requires extensive hands on work with numbers and problems to establish the foundation of number sense required to succeed in math. Intervention can begin at any time but is best started in early elementary education. I have created methods to implement these hands on tutoring methods in an online format so anyone from anywhere can seek help with Dyscalculia.

If you desire a tutor to assist with Dyscalculia issues or want to know more about what schools can do to help catch dyscalculia struggles early on, please reach out and schedule an appointment.

Frequently asked questions

1. Ask for specific curriculum or textbook the student is using to become acquainted with what the student needs to learn. I try to do this before the first appointment so I can be prepared as possible and know exactly what is expected of the student.

2. With a new student, I try to establish a good relationship by getting to know the student and making an effort to show to them that we're working as a team to help them improve as I believe one of the greatest encouragements in struggles in learning is knowing you have someone in your corner to help you and cheer you on.

3. I do my best to keep open communication with the student as I try to adjust my teaching style to their learning style as well as to look for areas in which we can both improve our tutoring sessions.

I have an Associates degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and am currently striving for my Bachelors in Elementary Education. I also have experience in teaching elementary level science camps and pre-school aged Sunday School.

Keep in mind, there is preparation and work that takes place outside of a tutoring session. For ever hour of tutoring, I try to spend at least an hour or two in preparation beforehand. I also take this time into consideration when deciding upon rates.

For each:

30 Minute Sessions: $15

1 Hour Sessions: $25

I try to have fair rates. I also encourage a longer term clients as I believe that aids in more efficient learning as time goes on, so I am willing to discuss discounts on a person to person basis in exchange for more tutoring time spent with the student if the need be.

I started looking into teaching because of my passion for working with kids and learning. It's a blessing to be able to help them feel accomplished in what they can learn and do as well as share my excitement of learning about the world with my students.

I have worked with pre-school, elementary, and middle school students in the past, both in group teaching settings as well as one on one tutoring sessions.

I recently went up North to visit my grandparents at their cottage. I'm quite fond of Lake Michigan as I grew up swimming bunches and always loved swimming in the waves of that particular great lake. I also am quite fond of my relationship with my grandpa as I treasure any amount of time I get to spend with him learning a little bit more about the world and feeling loved.

As a tutor who has been on the student side of tutoring, my biggest piece of advice would be to try out different tutors until one really works for you. Sometimes people are lucky and find a great tutor the first time around, but oftentimes it can be more difficult to find a tutor who's teaching style suits your learning style. Everyone has differences and that's okay. So if you're still struggling even in tutoring, I would recommend trying a different tutor.

1. What has worked for you in the past when it has come to learning?

2. In what specific way could your teacher help you the most?

3. What can I do by myself to save more time for the things I really get stuck on?
