Remember that kid in school who always sat in the front row and asked tons of questions? That was me! I have always been curious, and my passion for learning led me to my current career. Before I became a teacher, I volunteered in my daughter’s classrooms, led a Brownie troop, offered help to my classmates and sought out any opportunity to learn. I developed a love of the English language very early in life and enjoy sharing that love with others.

After receiving my teaching certification, I went on to get a master’s degree in education (Curriculum and Instruction). I began working as an elementary teacher soon after. Early on in my career, I published an article in Science Scope Magazine (about writing in science of course!) In my 20+ years of teaching in the traditional classroom, I had the unique opportunity to teach students from grade 2 to 12. During my elementary teaching, I found that I was most passionate about reading and writing and decided to move to the upper grades where I could teach this exclusively. I was immediately hooked!

Fast forward several years and I am now teaching English online. I began my online career teaching English as a second language. I was excited that I could teach my passion as well as communicate with children all over the world. I continue to hold a professional teaching license in my state. I am also certified for TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) and TEYL (Teaching English to Young Learners). Eventually I started reaching out to local parents and students, which led me to where I am now - with you.

Thanks to modern technology, learning isn’t restricted to finding a teacher in your own community. I am here to help you or your child in the comfort of your own home. I am a mother and grandmother to five beautiful grandbabies, so I know how it feels to want the very best for your child. I am confident I can help you or your child succeed. I enjoy the connection I make with my students. I believe that you need to build a connection and rapport before true learning can take place. I am a naturally friendly and caring person. I want my students to do well and that comes through in my teaching style. Most of my students come from the referrals of satisified parents and clients.

Learning should be something we do continuously. If we are learning something only for the moment, we cannot apply it to future problems. My goal is to give you or your child the tools and resources you/they need to succeed in writing. Each person is unique, and I create specialized instruction based on needs and current skills.
