Ms. Bell’s English Tutoring Services
About
I have had a passion for all things reading and writing since I was very young, and am now a certified high school English teacher in West Michigan. I earned my bachelor's of science from Northern Michigan Univeristy in May of 2019, and graduated Cum Laude as a Secondary English Education major with a minor in Secondary History Education. During my time at NMU, I worked in the Writing Center as a tutor, and also worked one-on-one regularily with high-risk students on academic probation. Last summer, I acquired my certification to teach English and began my first year teaching. My previous two years of tutoring experience, student teaching, first year of teaching has brought me to diverse student groups. I have worked with ESL students, students with learning disabilities, students with physical disabilities, and students from very diverse backgrounds and cultures. Below is the link to my student teaching portfolio. I invite you to check out how I integrate my teaching skills into my English classes. Although these examples were from my student teaching experience, the creativity and fun spilled over into my own classroom this past school year.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I first like to get to know each student so that I can better help them as a teacher by incorporating what they are interested in. I then like to discuss and what they feel they are struggling with the most, and how they learn best.
