About

At Branches: Always Reaching Further we use neuroscience to help our students access their strengths and use these strengths to overcome any challenges they are facing. By understanding how their own brain works, each student becomes stronger academically in their own unique style. Rather than forcing anyone to fit a certain curriculum or classroom, we ALWAYS find the study methods and thought processes to fit each and every student. At Branches, each individual Always finds a way to Reach Further and Further!

    Frequently asked questions

I spend the first session asking questions designed to get to know each individual, their current goals  and/or project, and where their academic strengths and successes are. This information helps me design a study plan that will be the best for each individual situation.

I have a B.A. in education, a M.A. in Neuroscience, and an ARCT in piano performance.

My hourly rate is something I discuss with you at our first appointment, a no-charge consultation of approximately 40-60 minutes. My tutoring hour is 50 minutes of one-on-one highly individualistic tutoring at my tutoring studio in East Lansing, MI and 10 minutes of recording our work, which I do privately. I do offer reduced rates for specific circumstances. I also travel to MSU library, and can reduce my rate for combined sessions, or other special case scenarios.

I did substitute teaching and tutoring throughout college before I entered classroom teaching. However, over the years of working in a classroom, whether in public or private, large or small, prep schools or University, I found one universal truth: classrooms are not designed to educate, they are all set up for herd mentality. I definitely missed the delight of being at a table with one other person, just enjoying the process of discovery as they realized their capabilities of learning, research, retention, logic, and progress. This is what I love to do!

I’ve worked with autism spectrum, Down’s syndrome, visually impaired, hearing impaired, gifted students, dyslexia and dyscalculia, ADD and ADHD, executive functioning disorders...I’ve helped students with no issues or with multiple issues gain confidence and find their own success with their academic goals.
