About
As a current college student, I am very familiar with expectations from educational institutions (from elementary through university). I have extensive experience in creative writing, as well as professional writing. I have several published pieces of work, both fiction and nonfiction.
As a tutor, I am very considerate of what my student wants to get out of the sessions. I am able to match my teaching style to what the student best learns from.
I am very passionate about my work, and want to elicit this passion from my students!
I love being able to see the progress that my students are making. Writing is one of those skills where you can really witness a change in skill level and expertise throughout the tutoring process.
Being able to read and write well are essential skills for an individual to have in order to succeed. Helping students acquire the skill of effective communication is very rewarding.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First, I like to have a conversation with the student to make sure that we both are on the same page-- for the student, that I am aware of what skills they are looking for help acquiring or strengthening, and for me, that the student is aware of my rates, availibility and my ability to help them going forward.
After cultivating a mutual understanding, I would offer a trial session for a discounted price. During this session, the student would be able to judge whether my tutoring skills are aligned with the style in which they learn best.
Following this session, the student would be asked to provide feedback and a final decision about my tutoring services going forward.
Beyond this, we would set up our future sessions.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am currently in my final year of undergraduate education at Wayne State University in Detroit, MI. At WSU, I study English Honors, International Relations and Arabic. Within English, my specialties are creative writing and professional or technical writing.
As far as tutoring, I have worked on writing and literacy skills for individuals from ages 3-18+. I feel comfortable working with any level of skillset.
