About

I have spent more than two decades working in education, supporting students with a wide range of learning needs. My background includes experience as a regular educator, special educator, school administrator, staff development teacher, and educational advocate. I hold a degree in regular education, a master’s degree in special education, and a master’s degree in school administration and supervision.

In addition to tutoring, I am a seasoned educational advocate who works extensively with families navigating the special education system. I have deep knowledge of Individualized Education Programs and how they are developed, implemented, and monitored. Through my advocacy work, I regularly review educational evaluations, analyze IEPs, and help families ensure that students receive the services and supports they need to access the curriculum. I also have extensive knowledge of special education law, including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act and related state regulations, which allows me to understand how educational services should be structured to truly support students.

Even though much of my professional work focuses on advocacy, I continue to work directly with students because it keeps me closest to the work and reminds me why I went into education in the first place. Working one on one with students allows me to see their growth firsthand and help them develop strategies that make learning clearer and more manageable.

Parents often tell me that what makes my work stand out is that I truly understand both how students learn and how schools operate. Many families come to me after their child has struggled for years, and they appreciate having someone who can break down difficult concepts for their child while also understanding the larger educational picture.

I am trained in Orton Gillingham, Wilson Reading System, and several other structured literacy and evidence based intervention programs. I have extensive experience supporting students with dyslexia, ADHD, autism, executive functioning challenges, and language based learning differences. My approach focuses on building strong foundational skills, breaking down complex material into manageable steps, and helping students develop the confidence they need to succeed.

What I love most about this work is helping students realize that they are capable. When students are given the right tools, strategies, and instruction, they can make tremendous progress. My goal is to help students build the skills, strategies, and confidence they need to succeed both in school and beyond.
