How did you get started teaching?
As a child, I loved reading and writing. My passion for learning and supporting others in reaching their potential grew into a career. I still love it over 20 years later.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with a wide range of students from elementary through adult, including those who are struggling, gifted, ESOL, have learning or physical disabilities.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I recently read The Hate U Give with a student as part of her summer reading. It was gratifying discussing the book with her and supporting her assignments relating to this engaging and current novel.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Be as specific as you can be about what it is you want to achieve
Talk to a teacher and/or parent about their suggestions
Have written directions, prompts, and rubrics ready for the tutor
Be ready with your ideas, drafts, notes
