I have 14 years experience as a teacher, in public, private, and international schools in three countries. I have also worked with families as they begin their homeschool journeys, advising on curricula and the practical details of making the transition from traditional schooling.
I believe that with the right tools and information, most families can sucessfully educate their children at home. As we face much incertainty about schools this coming fall, many parents have already seen the limitations of online learning and digital classes. What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I believe in working with families-- not just with children!
As parents, you know your child best. I begin by talking with parents- about their expectations, their hopes, and their childrens' needs.
I like to begin with an initial assessment to determine the needs of the student, then discuss a recommended plan of action with the parents.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelor's in Elementary Education, and 15 years of teaching experience in elementary and middle school.
