I have a wide range of knowledge and I am able to make strong connections with my students. I have been teaching for 12 years. The first 5 years of my career I was working with kids with special needs and then I transitioned into the Science classroom. For the last 7 years I have been a science teacher teaching content that ranges from climate change to genetics. I have also been a math tutor for the last 12 years and have worked with students from grade 6 to 12. I have a bahcelors degree in Biology and a Masters degree in Teaching Science and Education.
I am very passionate about helping students out and giving them the skills necessary to be successful in life and school. I enjoy watching their confidence grow as they start to believe in herself or himself more and more.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First I like to get to know the student as a person and as a learner. Then I ask them about their strenghts and weaknesses and I start to customize a plan that will work for them. I like to connect what I am teaching them to their everyday lives. I feel like if they can relate to it they will be more apt to understanding the material.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelor's degree in Biology and a Masters degree in Science and Education. I have been in education for 12 years. I have taught kids with special needs and for the last 7 years I have been a Science teacher for grades 6 -8. I have been tutoring for the last 12 years in Math and Science for grades 6 - 12.
How did you get started teaching?
I will typically start my lesson with a story or connection to something that the student is interested in. I try to peak their interest as much as possible so they want to know more information. Before they know it we are already having a conversation about something they struggled understanding the day before. Once they have a good background I will start with having them display their knowledge of the content in various ways.
