About
I have worked with students ranging from kindergarten out to Masters' level in Business.
It's always something different, something new. It challenges my abilities. That's on the intellectual side:)
The more fun reason is that I think I can relate to kids who need help. Up until college, I was an honors level student, never had to study, never had to learn.
Once I hit college, I found out that I needed to learn how to learn, how to study, how to take education more seriously. It's that process of discovery and the fact that even smart kids need help sometimes which led me to want to share that knowledge with others.
No matter your level, it's okay to ask for help!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
The first session is largely a getting to know you type of session. I like to try to get a feel for what interests the student. See what sort of structure they respond to. It's important to understand what makes each student tick.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
National Honors Society in my time at Somers High School. Degrees in history and political science (BA) from University of Connecticut. Yes, two whole degrees!
Worked as a substitute teacher from 2000 to 2008.
Since 2008, I have been working as a private tutor in the Somers/Enfield area.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I start at 60 per hour session. The only ways it can go up is if we start talking about working at collegiate level or if it's outside a half hour radius from my home base in Somers.
Plenty of ways it can go down. Multiple hours per day is the biggest one. You can also get rewards for recommendations that turn into other jobs for me, too!
