Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I will first ask for a sample of their writing and what they want to improve on or where their problems lie. If a high school student, I would appreciate a written letter from a teacher explaining why this student needs extra tutoring and where they believe the most needs are.
I also want to make sure that the student and I click and would like and respect each other.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have had years of teaching during my Nursing career, and I have just finished a seminar in writing instruction. I will be through with my Masters in Creative Writing and English by June 2020. When I was nursing the best part of it was being able to teach one-on-one, being able to give that individual attention is crucial in learning.
