About
I have 20+ years of teaching high school English Language Arts, and four years teaching English Composition, English Literature, and Speech Communications at the College level.
I am currently retired from full-time teaching at the high school level, though I am still licensed. I teach English part-time at Quincy College, which gives me flexibility in my schedule to accomodate the needs of tutoring clients.
I love everything about English! Aside from teaching, I am an avid reader of English literature, a practicing writer, and an occasional public speaker. I write in all genres, including narrative, expository, agumentative, analytical and informal. I read fiction, non fiction and poetry, and I write and deliver speeches at special events.

How did you get started teaching?
I have always had a love of English, including reading, writing and speaking, especially English literature.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with all types of students including middle school, high school, college, and adult learners. I have work with English language learners and students with special needs as well as advanced learners.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I am currently tutoring an adult student, who is also an English language learnier, studying for the MTEL teachers' licensing exam. Her quick progress and understanding makes every session very rewarding and special.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure you find a tutor that you connect with on a personal level. To really learn from someone you must repect that person and his or her expertise and ability to pass that knowledge along to others.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What exactly is it that you are trying to do? Write better? Read better? Speak better? Pass a test? Get better grades? Know what you want to get out of your work with a teacher and what you want to do with it.
