Emily's Math Tutoring
About
I have a massive passion for math, and I love instilling some of that passion into young learners. I believe that with the right perspective math can be enjoyable, understandable, and surmountable.
I tutored Calculus I, II, and III for Iowa State University for a year. Now I have relocated to Massachussetts and would love to continue tutoring.
I know that learning is especially difficult right now with the remote setting, and my mission is to help make that transition smooth and easy.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
My first step is to get an idea of what my students are working on now, and how I can help them with that. Next I like to get a syllabus or curriculum from them so that I can best plan future lessons and activities that will be the most relevant and helpful. Active learning is very important to me, and I do my best to avoid just lecturing about a topic. I love engaging students in math and making it fun for them to learn.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I studied mathematics at Iowa State University for two years, and during that time I tutored all kinds of Calculus students at all sorts of skill levels. I have also privately tutored high school students.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
For high school math (Geometry- AP Calc): $25 per session
For college math (College Algebra - Differential Equations): $35 per session.
Sessions are one hour long, but I can also do shorter or longer sessions at request.
