Personalized English And Writing Tutoring
About
Hello!
I have taught high school English for 14 years on the North Shore and I love it! I know first-hand what students need to do to be successful at the middle and high school levels. I also understand the amazing difference one-on-one attention can make when it comes to better understanding literature and the writing process.
I attended Wheaton College (Massachusetts) where I majored in English literature and minored in secondary education. I also earned my Masters degree in English at Salem State University and a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study from UMASS Lowell.
I am excited to work with you! :)

How did you get started teaching?
I student taught in college and began teaching right out of college. I knew I wanted to teach for a while and when I took some education courses in college, I loved them! I love working with kids and I love trying to come up with creative ways to learn.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have taught all levels of students in my teaching career, and have taught 8th grade, 9th grade, and 10th grade. For private tutoring, I have worked with high school freshmen, middle schoolers, and a fifth grader.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
If you are looking to understand the writing process more than you currently do, I can definitely help! I can break down the process and the structure of an essay so it is something you can apply to any future assignment. I can help you select and integrate effective quotes to your writing, develop a powerful thesis statement, and even just proofread and revise.
We can work through a challenging text and learn ways to move past the surface meanings and find the more abstract.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
1. What am I currently doing well?
2. What do I see as my areas for improvement?
3. What could I do more/better to improve?
4. What can the teacher do to help me learn more effectively?
