About
Hello, my name is Susan and I'm an experienced math tutor with a Bachelor's in Mathematics working in the Northwest Seattle area. I've been a tutor for 6 years now and have tutored clients from ages 13 to 60!
I specialise in working with clients who consider themselves "bad at math" or who get anxious even thinking about math. My friendly personality, years of tutoring experience, and the fact that I am myself a student make me a good fit for clients where other methods of education are just not working. Patience and empathy are qualities often overlooked in a tutor, but I think putting the student at ease is vitally important in being able to learn.
I have references available at request, just reach out :)

Susan has been the best math tutor I’ve ever had! I’ve worked with her for a few semesters and I will continue until she stops tutoring! Her ability to explain complicated and confusing math is unmatched. Working with her has helped me tremendously!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
To start I like to do an overview of the material being covered, then create a reference list of the relevant equations. But my biggest weapon is always practice problems! Coming prepared with practice problems is great but I can also write problems for the student if needed.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor's in Mathematics from the UMass Boston, and I have 6 years of tutoring experience.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have mostly tutored college and high school students but I am open to working with students as young as middle school level. I've also been a camp counselor and bike mechanics instructor for many years, so I have plenty of hands on experience working with children from elementary school age to high school, and adults.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
