About this tutor

Are you looking for a certified teacher to tutor your child? I'm a traveling, private tutor and will come to you for sessions! Check out my website to learn more about me: and find out how I can help your child succeed in academics!

I have worked in Massachusetts public schools for 10 years as a certified, highly qualified teacher. I have taught preschool, kindergarten, first, second, and third grade students in reading, writing, and math. I strive to help children reach their full academic potential through individualized instruction. I have helped many students that are behind academically to achieve grade level to above grade level expectations in multiple subject areas. I offer year round tutoring with summer sessions, after school sessions, and Sunday sessions. I live in Taunton, MA and service towns in Bristol County, many other towns in Massachusetts, and some in Rhode Island. In addition to being a certified teacher, I also have a Master's degree in Education through American International College and am CORI certified. I would love to help your child succeed in academics!

I enjoy helping children become successful in areas which were previously challenging for them.

I cannot recommend Mrs. Leahy highly enough. She has an impressive grasp of child psychology and a great variety and number of teaching strategies that really work with young children. I say this as an educator myself: I saw Mrs. Leahy at work with my daughter, who was falling behind in reading and math, and -- what was more worrisome for me and my wife -- was feeling low self-confidence. Mrs. Leahy has turned my daughter's self confidence around 180 degrees; moreover, my daughter no longer avoids math or reading any more, afraid of making mistakes. Instead, my daughter appreciates that mistakes are part of the process. And now she really likes going to school (she used to dread it). That is what I call the "Mrs. Leahy Difference."

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

Children will be assessed during the first few tutoring sessions to determine their specific academic needs and individualized instruction will be provided in order for effective progress to be made.  All teaching materials are supplied by Mrs. Leahy.  Children will get to use special art supplies and play academic games during a portion of their sessions to support their learning and make it fun!
