About
My name is Abigail Santos, and I am a K1/K2 Special Education Teacher with experience supporting students in kindergarten through second grade. I hold both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education and have passed the Foundations of Reading MTEL. I specialize in working with young learners who have diverse learning needs and benefit from structured, supportive, and engaging instruction.
As a teacher, I focus on building strong foundational literacy skills, including phonemic awareness, phonics, early writing, vocabulary development, reading fluency, and comprehension. I have experience implementing kindergarten, first grade, and second grade literacy curricula, and I adapt lessons to meet each child’s individual learning style, pace, and goals.
I also provide support in early math, including number recognition, counting, one-to-one correspondence, patterns, addition, and subtraction. Through my experience working with 1st and 2nd grade math curricula, I use hands-on materials, visual models, and real-world examples to strengthen number sense, problem-solving, and confidence in math.
Each tutoring session is personalized and goal-driven, whether a child needs extra practice, targeted intervention, or enrichment. My approach emphasizes building confidence, fostering independence, and making learning enjoyable, so students feel successful and motivated. I work closely with families to ensure tutoring supports classroom learning and helps students make meaningful progress.
