About this tutor

I am extremely passionate about facilitating growth and learning for students of all ages at every stage of their education. I want to help my students achieve their goals, and I have a practical, flexible plan for ensuring that happens. First, I attentively listen to the student’s concerns and problem areas. I will ask for the assignment guidelines/instructions, if applicable. I will then read through any work already completed by the student and identify areas that need work. Finally, I will guide the student in making changes to the assignment or adding to it, explaining everything clearly and thoroughly along the way, leaving plenty of time for questions. I take the student’s learning style into account, and I also consider that every person is different and requires different kinds of help and attention in order to be most successful.

I have earned my Associate of Arts in Liberal Arts and am a CLRA certified tutor. I am highly trained and experienced in tutoring students of all ages (elementary-aged to college-aged). I have tutored successfully in many different subjects, including algebra, statistics, psychology, and philosophy; however, English is my primary subject. I have been tutoring on a regular basis since 2015.

I was ranked #1 in my graduating class in college, and was the recipient of several scholarships based on academic achievement. I am confident in my ability to help others to learn and become more successful students, and it is something I care about deeply.

I am patient, kind, and attentive, and I would feel privileged to be your tutor.

I truly have a love for helping others. Few things bring me as much joy as seeing somebody light up when they finally understand a concept they have been struggling with. The way that I see it, every person is capable of doing whatever it is they set their mind to, and if somebody is coming to me for help, it is probably because they really want it, and I am always delighted to get to share some of my knowledge with anybody who wants it!

FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

First, I attentively listen to the student’s concerns and problem areas. I will ask for the assignment guidelines/instructions, if applicable. I will then read through any work already completed by the student and identify areas that need work. Finally, I will guide the student in making changes to the assignment or adding to it, explaining everything clearly and thoroughly along the way, leaving plenty of time for questions. I take the student’s learning style into account, and I also consider that every person is different and requires different kinds of help and attention in order to be most successful.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have earned my Associate in Liberal Arts and I am a College Reading and Learning Association (CLRA) certified tutor. I earned this certification while working as a peer tutor at the college level in all classes that I took, including (but not limited to) English Composition, Statistics, College Algebra, Psychology, and Philosophy.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

My rates vary by location, time, and the level of material; however, I like to offer a free 10-minute consultation to ensure that both the student and I feel that my tutoring services will be a good fit.

How did you get started teaching?

I started off by tutoring/doing homework help in high school for family friends' childen after school. I loved it and really realized my passion for it then, and I have been doing it ever since!

What types of students have you worked with?

I have truly worked with all types of students, from those with straight-A's to those failing out of all of their classes. I have worked with people at all ages, from very young children (around 5 years old) to adults. I have also worked with people with disabilities and special needs including ADHD, dyslexia, autism, and down syndrome.
