How did you get started teaching?
Hello! My name is Donovan Dowers and I founded ChemCoach to help students turn their breakdowns into breakthroughs.
I have 6 years of academic coaching experience. While I was a student at Boston University, I served as an undergraduate teaching assistant for General Chemistry 1 and 2 for 1 year, and I am now in my 7th year of private coaching.
When I was an undergraduate student at BU, I truly struggled to find study methods that would get me top scores in the highly competitive and difficult pre-medical courses. In fact, I finished my sophomore year with below a 3.0 GPA! I wondered how I would ever get into medical school and fulfill my life career dream.
Instead of selling out and choosing an easier path, I pushed ahead full force and never looked back. The results I achieved landed me on the Dean's list junior and senior year. I then completed a Master's degree and then applied and was accepted to three well-known U.S. allopathic medical schools (MD and MD-MPH programs).

I have worked with students of all ages, majors, and proficiencies and am an expert in helping you find your path to success. In addition to my coaching experience, I have also completed university-level education course work in teaching STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics courses) subjects.
I have a bachelor's degree in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology and a master's degree in Medical Sciences. I am now an MD-MPH student at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.
