About
Hello! I am a graduate student at MIT studying data science, and I tutor part-time because I love to teach. Thank you for considering me for your tutoring needs!
In high school, I worked at a Mathnasium, tutoring kids k-12 in anything from basic arithmetic to AP calculus. Then in college, I led recitations in calculus and linear algebra as an Undergraduate Teaching Assistant and received the 2020 Georgia Tech institute-wide UTA of the year award. After graduating from Georgia Tech with a BS in Mechanical Engineering, I worked for a four years in manufacturing at P&G and Tesla before coming back to school.
I mostly do zoom tutoring sessions using a tablet with which I can draw on a shared virtual whiteboard, but if you're near MIT I'm happy to meet in person!

Student testimonials from my work as a TA:
“I. LITERALLY. Would not have been able to pass this course if not for Max Poff. Not only is he an angel of a human being, he's super qualified to teach Linear Algebra, and it is so evident that he genuinely cares for each and every one of his students ... He's the kind of guy who had office hours twice a week because he's that invested, and I just love him.”
“Extremely funny, I found it hard to not pay attention. Max always maintained the attention of the class.”
“I just want to say thank you to make a big difference in my learning. Linear wouldn’t have been nearly as interesting if you wouldn’t have been my TA ... Thank you for making my Fridays worthwhile.”
“Max Poff, you're a star.”
“Dude was a pro”
