Experienced Elementary Tutor

Hi! My name is Eliza, and I live in Boston. I graduated third in my class from Newton Country Day School, and just completed my first year at Dartmouth College. I plan on majoring in Early Education as I have a passion for teaching. I have experience tutoring elementary and middle school aged kids in a variety of capacities. I have been a math tutor with Mathnasium--a national tutoring center--for three years. I primarily tutored elementary-aged students my first year but was promoted and now focus on grades seven through nine. I love helping students begin to take their first steps into the world of Algebra, but I will always have a special place in my heart for early-elementary math. Helping a student learn a fundamental math concept is a very rewarding experience. I also have three years of experience volunteering with Casserly House--a nonprofit after-school program for young students. With Casserly House, I taught a variety of subjects as well as created lasting bonds with my students. Through my time with Casserly House, I learned how to show a student that he or she can feel comfortable with me, and I therefore became a more effective tutor.
