Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First, I get a sense of where the student is standing at the subject, and then chart a rough roadmap on where we'd like to get to from here.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of Rochester. I have been a teaching assistant in several challenging courses during my time there.
I have also been employed as a peer tutor in multiple CS classes by the university's Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning, and a mentor to new hires into the Tutoring program.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
$20/hour for Computer Science
$25/hour for Mathematics
How did you get started teaching?
We enjoyed watching hard theoretical concepts make sense to our friends - so, why not go pro?
What types of students have you worked with?
We have extensive experience working with students at different stages in their learning - some start with us with no background knowledge, some are past the fundamentals and are intersted in extra-syllabus discussions.
We can be helpful to people who are in the emergency mode, as well as to explore topics beyond the classroom!
