Math Unmuted
About
I've spent 11+ years in New Orleans K-12 classrooms and schools — starting as a special education teacher, moving into general education, and eventually into math coaching and running an entire EdTech department solo. I hold a Louisiana teaching certification, completed TeachNOLA's rigorous alternative certification program, and earned a BFA — so I bring both analytical thinking and creative problem-solving to every session.
My sweet spot is grades 3–5, where I specialize in math, science, art, and test prep. I believe every student deserves to truly understand math — not just memorize steps. That means we start with hands-on tools and visuals before moving to numbers and symbols, building real confidence along the way. I don't do the work for my students. Instead, I teach them how to think through a problem, use their resources, and trust themselves — because that's what actually sticks. For students with IEPs or 504s, I make sure they know how to use their accommodations as strengths, not shortcuts.
My goal is for every student to leave our sessions feeling more capable than when they walked in.
