About

I'm a young, relatable tutor with lots of babysitting, camp counseling, and tutoring experience, so your student will feel comfortable during our sessions. Being a more recent high school graduate, I was taught math the same way your students are, so I'll teach the same methods their teachers do! Finally, I offer lots of game-based math to grow your student's problem solving abilities and keep their math skills sharp over the summer in a fun way.

While it's gratifying to see student's test scores rise, it's even more exciting to watch students grow more confident. Math is a scary subject for lots of students, so seeing students grow from being intimidated by their math homework to feeling confident enough to engage with and master the concepts is incredibly rewarding. I love math, and sharing that passion is so much fun!

Frequently asked questions

When working with a new student, I always first take a few minutes to get to know them and hopefully help them feel more comfortable with me. Going into a session or during the first session, I'll always talk with the student or a parent about their goals for our sessions, so I can make sure we're working towards them! If we're working towards improving grades in a course, I'll often ask to see tests or assignments to get a feel for what specific concepts we need to focus the most on. After the first session or two, I can make a longer term plan with a student about how to best meet their goals.

I'm currently working towards a bachelor's degree in mathematics at Johns Hopkins University, so I've taken the standard four years of high school math (Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Pre-Calculus). I earned a 36 on the math section of the ACT. I've taken Calculus I, Calculus II, Calculus III, Linear Algebra, and Differential Equations (current GPA: 4.0).

I've been working with students aged 6-15 for 7 years as a summer camp counselor and a babysitter, so I can work with and relate to students well! I completed an internship at a local elementary school in high school, so I taught large and smal group lessons to young students. I also ran the math tutoring lab at my high-achieving high school for a year.

I break down my services into 2 categories:

1. Standard Math Lesson (2nd-8th grade math) $20/30 minutes

- These lessons are usually 30 minutes because younger students tend to have shorter attention spans

- With young students (12 and under), I'll usually spend the first lesson mostly getting to know the student and playing math games so they're comfortable before we get into the tough stuff!

2. Advanced Math (Algebra I, Algebra II, Pre-calculus, Calculus I, Calculus II, Calculus III, Linear Algebra, and Differential Equations ) $30/45 minutes

- These sessions are longer because these math concepts typically take more time to dig into

In sessions, I'm happier to either plan lessons to explain and practice concepts or assist students with homework.

These rates and time frames are flexible!

Don't be afraid to try a few different tutors! It's important for a student to feel comfortable both with their tutor's personality and teaching style.
