Lea's Kids Math And English Tutoring
About
My tutoring experience comes from many places. First I directed and tutored in my own 501 c 3 nonprofit after-school and all day summer program in the Atlanta Metropolitan area for 15 years. I taught elementary school children to read and tutored elementary and middle school students in all subjects with math emphasis. Secondly, I tutored for six months in a Federal tutoring program, where all subjects were taught to middle school students. In addition to those things, I taught middle school and high school students English, 7th grade math, and Algebra for one year under the Abekka curriculum for one year in a Christian school. I have extensive college coursework complete in middle math education.
My greatest strengths are in math and English grammar, but I have tutored children and youth in all their subjects on a daily basis in the after-school program. I enabled many students to improve their grade averages, but the most notable two are a student I helped move from an F to an A in 6th grade math in 4 months and a second grade student who had failed a grade, ADD, and could not learn to read. I worked with him for a year and a half, and he looked up at me one day and said, "Ms. Lea, I can read!" and proceeded to read book after book. This is what motivates tutors and teachers to continue in the blessed task of motivating and enabling students to get past their difficulties to the place of enlightenment. Let me help your child reach that point.
My latest success was in April and May of 2016 when I tutored a fifth grade student in grammar. In the span of two months we brought a failing grade up to a C. Who knows what we could accomplish in the next few months we work together. Don't you want that for your child? Don't wait until they go back to school. Let's start working on it together before your child is struggling again to keep up.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
In order to understand a student's needs discussion with the parent and access to the student's teacher is preferred. This gives me an opportunity to develop a plan for helping your child. Textbooks, test papers, and work sheets are invaluable materials that will help me also in assisting your child to excel in that area and get past their current difficulties.
