Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I start with understanding the student's thinking process, and adapt the teaching style to the way the student best absorbs the material. I consider success when the student can explain the material back to me.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I previously served as a tutor for 5+ years. I continue to mentor individuals in my professional career.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
35$/hour
A group session will be discounted dependent on the individuals attending. I also offer discounts on periodic sessions (weekly or more frequent).
How did you get started teaching?
My college colleagues also told me I had a knack for explaining complex ideas into simple terms. Although I am not a full-time teacher, I enjoy teaching students.
What types of students have you worked with?
Mostly undergraduates with some high-school students.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
LSU National Champions ;)
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Get a good idea of the tutor's teaching style and see if it works with your own. I believe that every student needs a different type of tutor to best learn the material.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
How often do I need tutoring? What tends to be my weakness in studying? Can I learn to tutor myself?
