From early 2016, I have been in education. I started out teaching at a detention center by helping incarcerated men of all ages get their HiSET. I had many graduates and this was a great accomplishment for me. In mid 2018, I started working as a paraprofessional at a school for special needs. I have taught all ages a variety of subjects but specialize in Math tutoring/lessons. I look forward to our correspondence. Thank you!
I have always excelled at Math even since I was really young. I guess I have that analytical math brain that some people have. My approach is to see what’s working for students and what is not. Especially with math, some traditional methods of teaching do no always click with the student. For me, it is important to find a way of understanding and what’s great about math is there are usually a few different ways to do one thing.

The work I do is very rewarding. I would not be in such a position unless I loved doing it. I love learning myself, and when I can instill that skill in others and see them succeed I derive great joy from that.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I ask them what they are struggling with specifically and then try to find a new way or method that might sink in better than what they’ve been taught before.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am currently working on my Bachelors but I have been in an educational setting since 2016 and have lots of on the job training and experience.
