I believe all students can learn and it is my job to find their way of learning and support them in any way I can. I believe reading is the cornerstone of all education. No matter the subject there is always reading embedded into it. I am trained as a reading specialist in Elementary Education. It is my goal to not only teach students to read, but also to help them read to learn.
I was a struggling reader myself and I know how hard it is for students when they want to do well in school but need extra support. My reading struggles were due to poor vision, however, even after getting glasses, I struggled. I will never forget my 3rd Grade Teacher at Zachary Elementary who helped me grow and succeed as a reader.
I have a Master's Degree in Reading in Elementary and a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. I have three years of classroom experience and over 10 years of experience in education. I was a School Literacy Leader with the DODEA in Japan. I am currently working toward also becoming an interventionalist with LDOE.
The "I GOT IT" moments. When students light up when they understand something they have learned.

Our first meeting will be more like a Parent/Student/Teacher conference. I will assess the students to get a feel for their area of need, based on the subject. Tutoring sessions will be flexible and individual based on the needs of students. Students may bring in school work for extra support as needed.
