About

My son was diagnosed with dyslexia in the third grade. After being told by the "specialist schools" that he could not learn many things, I decided to homeschool him along with my two daughters. No, I was not a teacher. I was a nurse and a National Sales Manager of a large corporation. I decided to leave the corporate world and focus on one-on-one instruction for my own children. Through this journey of learning how to teach a student with learning disabilities, I learned of the gigantic need for one-on-one, affordable instruction for, in particular, math, science, and reading. After two years, I began teaching other students. I have taught dozens of students daily over the past eight years. Ten years later, my son is a Biological Engineering major at LSU and my daughter is an Economics major with a minor in business, also at LSU. They are thriving in college. I have realized that I have a gift of teaching. Rather than return to the corporate world, I choose to take this gift and all that I've learned over the past decade, and use it to bless others who struggle to learn. In order to reach as many students as possible, I primarily teach online.

When students are struggling in a subject, it is usually because there is a foundational concept that was missed along the way. I specialize in uncovering these missed foundational blocks and reinstilling them in a way that the student can subsequently move into harder concepts.

I could fill this page with accomplishments from 4.0 GPA's in college, to successes in the corporate world of management, marketing, IT, award wining web designs, and much more. However, I feel it is best to outline the one success that means the most to this task at hand. Students need help thinking through the processes and learning concepts. Too many tutors "give" the answers for the sake of time. While time is an important factor in getting through the amount of work given, learning to work through complicated problems, diagrams, and modules is what prevents them from needing tutoring on the next chapter or the next concept. Helping them work their way out of their need to depend upon a tutor is the ultimate goal and is the premier key to their success.

Observing students who press in and gain a passion for learning while moving forward with confidence is the most enjoyable part of the work I do. It's more than a job.
