About
I get satisfaction in seeing a student improve over time. I am patient and will work with the student no matter how long it takes for that understanding to come. I am more than qualified to tutor students in Math. As a Civil Engineering student math has become a constant tool. My experience in upper level algebra, pre calculus, and calculus courses equip me with the understanding and perspective to help students learn and grow. During my time studying mathematics I have gained over 5 years of tutoring experience primarily with college students. I am versatile and can work with students at all levels. My service is unique in that I allow the student to guide me through their problems and I come in to fill any conceptual gaps. I utilize technology so that the student can see my screen via whiteboard and we can work through problems together. My main objective is to have the student lead the session in what they need help with. I help the student connect the conceptual dots and help them with the problem solving methods.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Typically I start a zoom session with the student and get an idea of what they are doing in class, what they may not understand, and what they have done up to that point. I like for the student to "lead" the session and I help with any misunderstandings or problem solving as we work through the problem together.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have 3 years of math tutoring experience from Kentucky State University. I worked at the Academic Center for Excellence during my time at Kentucky State. I am currently a Junior Civil Engineering major at the University of Kentucky. I have taken numerous high level math courses as it is required for my field of study. I'm comfortable with math topics ranging from pre algebra up to calculus II.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
For a session, I will charge $20 an hour as a standard rate.
How did you get started teaching?
I first started tutoring back in the fall of 2016. I noticed that there was a lack of math tutors on my campus at the time so I applied at the tutoring center to assist my peers. I got hired as a math tutor and enjoyed working with students. That led to tutoring middle school to high school aged students in the community through word of mouth. I have experience working with all grade levels.
What types of students have you worked with?
Elementary school, Middle school, High school, and Collegiate
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure that the teacher you select is right for your needs. I would check to see if the teacher can accommodate for any accommodations you may need. Make sure the teacher is professional and conducts themselves as such. An unprofessional teacher can waste your time and money. Make sure you are comfortable with the teacher you select. It is easier to learn in a comfortable environment than an uncomfortable environment.
