About
I am a senior at the Gatton Academy of Mathemetics (Kentucky's first residential STEM school). At Gatton I take dual credit classes through Western Kentucky University and have been doing that since the beginning of my junior year. Because of this I already have 2 semesters worth of college credits.
I am currently taking Honors Calculus II which means I can tutor all the way through Calculus I/AP Calc AB.
I tutored many students at my home highschool through my school club Mu Alpha Theta. I’m young which I believe can allow me to develop a stronger relationship with the students I’m tutoring since they will most likely be younger than me. I have learned that age groups closer together develop stronger relationships which can then lead to an improvement in that student’s work ethic and understanding of the subject that they require tutoring for.
I'm a hard worker and can motivate your child/teen to be a hard worker as well. I have earned numerous math awards and have won math competitions at my school.
When I tutor it seems like I'm learning it with them. Tutoring is a great review for past topics, and because I make it seem like I'm learning it with them, even though I've most likely alreadt mastered the topic, it makes them feel more reassured.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I get to know them and introduce myself to them to start a trusting relationship and then I ask them what subjects in whatever math they’re taking they require assistance in. I do one subject at a time and whatever homework they have concerning that subject I help them do and then I give them more resources like worksheets to help them and strengthen their understanding. I make flash cards, I write notes, whatever helps them understand the material. And then we move on to the next subject that they’re struggling with or the next subject their teacher teaches them.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am in a highschool club called Mu Alpha Theya which is a national math club where club members can tutor kids. In order to join the club one must show an understanding of an advanced level of math and be in an advanced math course, Algebra 2 or higher. Club members must also show a great fascination and enjoyment of mathematics.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

What types of students have you worked with?
Highschool students, and I occasionally work with elementary and middle school students in my neighborhood whenever they have trouble with their school work. I also help family friends.
