Math & Science Tutoring
About
I stand out by only having a 1-2 clients at a time.
I specialize in Math & Science, but can tutor most subjects at the high school level and a few subjects at the college level. Outside of science and math I have tutored Spanish & economics.
I started officially tutoring in college where I was the tutor for a fraternity. I would help with various college courses, mostly math & science. After graduation I tutored college chemistry & elementary math.
As for my personal education I have a degree in electrical engineering & energy science with an emphasis on power systems. I have written a book on the subject and am a consultant in the industry.
I am looking for 1-2 clients or group of clients to tutor. I miss teaching and would love to help someone out.
My biggest strength is learning. I love to learn and the best way to do that is through teaching. I love to teach and to share my knowledge. It is fulfilling and rewarding to see students learn and hit their goals. I will never forget the girl who went from a D in chemistry to an A and told me the story of her crying of happiness in school

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
The first session or two I try to figure out the best way a student learns and familiarize myself with the style it is currently being taught. I then have them make a goal or agreement with the student. As that sessions go along I refine the process to help them hit their goal.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I was a tutor for 2.5 years to over 80 students in college and have volunteer tutored at Amethyst place.
I have a bachelor's of engineering along with a minor in energy science.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge $25/hr for high school level and lower and $30/hr for college level courses.
How did you get started teaching?
I got started teaching in college as a part time job for some spending money and to help pay for school
What types of students have you worked with?
I have mostly worked with early college students, a few high school students, and one middle schooler.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would tell a student to hire a tutor that is not afraid to say that they need to look something up or can admit when they don't know something. I think the largest value of having a tutor is having the tutor show them how to learn as they teach them the content they need help with.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Why do you need a tutor? Is it because you cannot focus on online school? Is it just one subject and you don't learn well with the teacher's style? How do you learn best?
