About

I hold a Master's degree in Teaching, highly qualified designation, certified in grades K - 9. With 23 years classroom teaching experience in grades 5 through 7, I teach all core subjects . For the past 13 years I have tutored children in grades 1 through 9 . In addition, I have taught at both Baker University and Saint Mary University in the Education department as an adjunct professor, where I taught education major students at the graduate and undergraduate level. Basically, I taught teachers how to teach.

Inpiring students to learn to love learning - for a lifetime - has remained my goal always. When content becomes too difficult, many students give up in frustration. Finding the individual's distinct learning style, along with presenting content in a variety of ways, guides students to success. Success is what spurs a child to seek further knowledge, and thus, he or she learns to love learning.

Mrs. Chandler has been a lifesaver for our daughter. She was really struggling with understanding concepts and Mrs. Chandler has shown her new ways to implement techniques to help her understand. Highly recommend!

Claudia Chandler is a talented and experienced teacher. My childrens grades have greatly improved under her tutelage. Not only does she explain things effectively, but she also inspires the kids to do their best work. Both of my children have been taking classes from Claudia for the past 9 months.

    Frequently asked questions

Our initial meeting is a time to chat. There are two primary objectives during our first time together as teacher and student: to get to know one another on a social level and to discover what, precisely, the student is struggling with academically, and why they believe this has become difficult for them.  An informal assessment of their current academic proficiency level may be administered. We will discuss the learning style that works best for the individual, and what the individual's academic goals are moving forward.

I hold a Master's degree in Teaching, highly qualified designation, certified in grades K - 9. I have 22 years classroom teaching experience in grades 5 through 7, all core subjects, and have tutored children from grades 1 through 9 for the past 13 years. In addition, I have taught at both Baker University and Saint Mary University in the Education department as an adjunct professor, where I taught education major students at the graduate and undergraduate level. Basically, I taught teachers how to teach.

My fee is $40.00 per hour for students who reside within a  15-mile distance from my location.

When in third grade, I had a teacher, Mrs. Kirschbaum, who inspired me to be for students exactly as she was for me. My dream from that point forward was to teach. Life led me in various career directions, none of which ever satisfied my need to inspire children to learn. Finally, in the year 1997, I achieved my childhood dream.

In the classroom, I have worked with an endless variety of delightful children! Without a degree in special education, my classrooms were blessed to have incredible paraprofessionals who worked with students with special needs. I would design all lessons with differentiated levels of academic readiness so that all students could achieve success.

Throughout my teaching career for the past twenty-three years, the greatest joy for me has been watching my students grow up to be amazing human beings. Many of my students are now adults, many with families of their own. With today's technology, specifically Facebook, hundreds of my adult students stay in contact with me! I have had the amazing delight to meet their famillies, have dinner with them, and even celebrate their weddings and baby showers. There is no greater testament to my relationship with my students than for them to still include me in their lives all these years later. I am blessed beyond measure!

Meet with the teacher. Chat about who you are as a person and as a learner. Establish a bond that you feel will help catapult you to success in a fun and engaging manner. Follow your instincts when choosing the best teacher for you.

Think about what you believe are the root causes of your struggles in your academic journey. Have you always struggled in this area, or has the virtual world of learning created holes in your progress? Is learning through a computer simply not your learning style, or is the content itself the issue? Are you self-motivated to learn, but need to be taught the concepts in order to find success, or do you need more consistent one-on-one guidance?
