About
Using Orton Gillingham methods, I teach my students in an explicit, systematic and sequential way to ensure that the support I offer is meeting their needs and helping them succeed as a reader. The progress monitoring data I collect with students, guide me in making instructional decisions for upcoming sessions. I strive to create learning experiences for my students that are not only grounded in data, but also student interest and learning style.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I use diagnostic data in order to make all of my instructional decisions. With initial data, I have a starting point of where to fill in phonics and phonological awareness gaps. Then, I use the anectdoctal notes and progess monitoring data I collect during the lesson, to plan for the next tutoring session.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a Blue Valley teacher who has experience in teaching or tutoring students K-5. I am trained in Orton Gillingham explicit and sequential methods and the Science of Reading philosophy; which I use daily to make instructional decisions. The lesson plans I create are time-consuming to create, but are specifically created with your child's needs in mind.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
The tutoring lesson plans I create are grounded in Orton Gillingham approach, so they are sequential, explicit and systematic in structure. They are time-consuming to create, because every word, phrase, and strategy I use in my lessons, have your child in mind. The goal is to fill any phonological or phonics gaps they may have, in order to help them be successful readers and writers. Therefore, after discussing with many other Blue Valley Reading Specialists in the district, I set my rate at $60 dollars per hour.
