About
SAT/ACT or math class giving you a headache? I can help. I have helped many students raise SAT/ACT scores and math grades, while simultaneously raising their confidence and winning thousands in scholarship money. I have worked for just about every big name tutoring company, and I have chosen to advertise my personal services as I can offer better value and customize lessons for each individual student. With time, practice, and the right approaches, students can raise their scores significantly. I specialize in ACT/SAT prep, so I tutor all sections of both tests. For SAT/ACT, average improvement is 80-150 pts on SAT and 2-4 composite ACT pts; I have had students improve over 8 ACT pts and 250 SAT pts. My approach is customized for the student, as every case is different (which test to take, how many to take, how long to prep, etc.). I also frequently tutor high school math (up to and including precalculus/trigonometry), science (chemistry, physics, etc.) and language (Spanish). I have a lot of experience with Carmel High School curriculum. I have extensive experience in working with students with ADD/ADHD, dyslexia, processing issues, etc. I have helped students in all levels of courses, including honors and AP levels. I know it's hard to tell from a profile which tutor is best for your student. Please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions so you can learn more about who I am and how I work.
I love helping students raise their confidence and seeing them grow more academically independent as we work together. Seeing them get into their dream school and earn scholarships is the best feeling!!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Give me a call or shoot me a text and tell me about your student's needs. My approach is customized for every student, so how often we meet/how long we meet for depends on the student. For standardized test prep, I'll let you know the general process of how testing works, what the recommended approaches are, and I'll answer all your questions about standardized tests and the college admissions process.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've helped students raise scores, grades, and confidence levels for years. My students have won thousands in scholarships and improved over 8 ACT points and/or 250 SAT pts.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Tutoring rates are $50/hr for academic virtual or in-person, and $60/hr for standardized test prep (in person or virtual). For standardized test prep (SAT/ACT), there is a one-time materials fee of $125, which may be lower depending on how many sessions the student will have.
How did you get started teaching?
I worked for a private tutoring company in Houston, TX for several years, where I learned and spent many hours teaching and tutoring ACT/SAT and high school math, science, and languages.
What types of students have you worked with?
Most of my students are 8th-12th grade. I have worked with students with various learning difficulties and barriers, including ADD/ADHD, dyslexia, concussions, and testing anxiety. I specialize in assisting students who are struggling in the course material, but I have taught all levels of courses, from regular and intermediate to honors/AP.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I recently had a student who started with a 23 on the ACT and needed a 30 for her target score. In about 5 months, I helped her score a 30 and, as a result, she received over 70k in scholarship money.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Don't use one of the big name centers (Huntington, Varsity Tutors, etc.). I have worked for these companies and they pay the tutors less while charging the customer more. You essentially pay more money for either the same or lower quality services. The best tutors strike out on their own because they can, and since they are independent, they are able to charge less than the big name companies.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Are you looking for a few quick cram sessions or are you looking for a significant score increase? I can help either way but it will save us time to let me know up front. Every student and situation is different. Take a look at my profile and give me a call or shoot me a text if you are interested. Then we can see whether I would be a good fit for your needs or not. I am honest and direct with clients; I am happy to help you find the right fit for your student, even if it isn't my program.
